4wd wouldnt engage this morning when we hit the beach, had to get pulled off by someone with a Dodge. Still had fun on the beach in my girlfriends brothers YJ. Looks like im gonna have to stick to the Canal where I can stay in 2-wheel until I fix this problem.
Hangten30Sorry dude, any idea on the problem?9 years ago
cerasi15Thinkin its the actuator (my system is push-button). Nothing physical is broken (thank god) so im sure its something electrical. When I push the button, the light comes on, but the front wheels dont engage.9 years ago
HopkinsIf the actuator is anything like a starter, then a solid wack with a hammer might cause it to engange. Haha never hurts to try9 years ago
cerasi15I hate to say it, but i think this will end up being at my mechanic sometime. Not too experienced with this stuff. Gonna search around and visit the Haynes manual anyway soon haha9 years ago
cerasi15The S10, my only vehicle (for now).

4.3LXJThere is a central axle disconnect on the front diff that commonly fails. Cherokees have them too. I just shimmed mine permanently over. On yours it is electrically operated and the coils fail easily for some reason. Easy fix9 years ago
