4wd wouldnt engage this morning when we hit the beach, had to get pulled off by someone with a Dodge. Still had fun on the beach in my girlfriends brothers YJ. Looks like im gonna have to stick to the Canal where I can stay in 2-wheel until I fix this problem.

cerasi15 Thinkin its the actuator (my system is push-button). Nothing physical is broken (thank god) so im sure its something electrical. When I push the button, the light comes on, but the front wheels dont engage. 9 years ago

Hopkins If the actuator is anything like a starter, then a solid wack with a hammer might cause it to engange. Haha never hurts to try 9 years ago

cerasi15 I hate to say it, but i think this will end up being at my mechanic sometime. Not too experienced with this stuff. Gonna search around and visit the Haynes manual anyway soon haha 9 years ago

4.3LXJ There is a central axle disconnect on the front diff that commonly fails. Cherokees have them too. I just shimmed mine permanently over. On yours it is electrically operated and the coils fail easily for some reason. Easy fix 9 years ago
