Mabell trail is located in northampton mass. Mabell is short for mass bell as the trail is named for the old bell telephone lines that used to run down the trail way back when. the land is privately owned and the land owner is nice enough to let us wheel there. However the trail is in constant danger of closing do to a lack of respect for the land. there are certain parts of the trail that are off limits so if you do go here go with someone who knows the trail. Mabell was featured in an issue of JP a few mounths ago and is one of the better trails in western mass. it offers difficult rock climbs where 35s and lockers are needed however there are go arounds for less equipped vehicles. the trail is rather short but challenging enough to make a day out of. Please remember to always tread lightly, leave only tire tracks and most import have fun!

Great little trail

This is a good trail with quite a few challenging areas all with go around for lesser equipped vehicles. There is a nice spot at the end of the trail to hang out or have a good break. The ride down can be just as much fun as the climb up. I believe the trails past the top lead to private property and should probably be avoided!

Where is the trailhead? It looks like you drive right into someone’s front yard? Did I miss something ?
