This is a nice short trail that begins at Chamiso Canyon Rd off NM 337 (South 14) and re-joins NM 337 at Juan Thomas Rd. Turn off of Chamiso Canyon Rd on FR 462. This is not a very maintained road and the trail is rocky at points. There are several alternate routes that will all end up near the same place. For the most part this is a stock friendly trail with some side obstacles. I would recommend stopping at the Ranger Station on NM 337 and pick up a Motor Vehicle Use Map. This will help keep you on the right trails. Also, watch for Bikes, Quads, and Motorcycles. Tips: Remember, it is your responsibility to be aware of motor vehicle use changes in all National Forests. Check with the Forest Service for the latest MVUM (Motor Vehicle Usage Map) prior to your trip. Many of these are available online in formats to work on a GPS or SmartPhone.
