Adams Lake 4x4 Road
Adams Lake Road (601.2C) junction with Forest Road 601, White River National Forest, near New Castle, CO
About this trail
Adams Lake Road is a short but rugged 4x4 spur in the White River National Forest. Route 601.2C branches from Forest Road 601 and climbs through rocky terrain to the northeast side of Adams Lake. The Forest Service lists the road as 0.88 miles long and recommends high-clearance 4WD for motorized travel. The pin marks the junction with Road 601, not the lake itself. Rock ledges and uneven ground make careful line choice important, and reaching the spur requires a longer backcountry approach. Normal motorized access is seasonal, May 21 through November 22, subject to snow and temporary restrictions. Stay on the designated road, avoid widening it around obstacles and check current forest conditions before travelling. The two original lake and rocky-road photos are historical imagery, not a current condition report.
