About this trail
Alpine Loop Back Country Byway is a 63-mile, high-clearance four-wheel-drive route through Colorado’s San Juan Mountains, connecting Lake City, Silverton, and Ouray. The route crosses Engineer and Cinnamon passes at elevations above 12,000 feet. Allow a full day, carry water, food, fuel, and offline maps, and confirm current snow, weather, and road conditions before traveling.
