East Rollins Pass Road
Rollins Pass Road (149) at County Road 16 near East Portal, Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests, near Rollinsville, CO
About this trail
East Rollins Pass Road climbs an old railway grade from the East Portal area into mountain forest and alpine scenery. The road is rough and potholed, with exposed, narrow sections; suitable clearance and cautious driving matter more than the old easy-road rating. The pin marks the eastern approach at County Road 16. This is an out-and-back drive: motorized access ends at Brogan's Cut before Needle's Eye Tunnel, and there is no legal motorized connection across the Continental Divide to Winter Park. Do not drive around barriers, onto historic trestles or into designated wilderness. Snow and temporary restrictions can limit how far the road is passable. Check the current map and road-status updates before travelling. The three historical source images include a railway trestle; its presence in the gallery does not imply vehicle access.
