About this trail
Padre Island National Seashore includes 60 miles of South Beach open to driving when conditions allow. Two-wheel-drive vehicles are limited to North Beach and South Beach miles 0 through 5; four-wheel drive is recommended farther south. Vehicles must be street legal and licensed. Dunes, grasslands, tidal flats, and Malaquite Beach are closed to vehicles.
