Rubicon Trail
Loon Lake OHV Trailhead, Ice House Road, El Dorado County, CA
About this trail
The Rubicon Trail crosses Sierra granite, forests and rugged rock obstacles between the Loon Lake area and Lake Tahoe. Expect slow technical driving, tight passages, large boulders and steep sections that can damage an unprepared vehicle. Bring recovery equipment, a capable companion vehicle and the experience to evaluate each obstacle. This page uses the Loon Lake OHV trailhead on Ice House Road as its access point; it is not the separate nonmotorized lakeshore hiking trail. Stay on the designated motorized route, respect private property and keep vehicles out of Spider Lake. Check county condition reports, registration requirements, weather and current forest restrictions before travel. Arrange any private camping directly with the landowner.
