Silver Lake ORV Area
8960 W. Fox Road, Mears, MI 49436
About this trail
Silver Lake's designated ORV area offers open sand-dune riding beside Lake Michigan. It is only one section of the state park: pedestrian dunes, the guided-tour concession area and the water's edge are not open to your vehicle. Follow the marked riding boundaries, signed direction of travel and entry safety checks. The pin points to the Fox Road ORV access address, not the general park headquarters or a campground. Motorized dune riding runs seasonally from April through October, with changing daily hours and entry cutoffs. Check Michigan DNR's current requirements for an ORV license, trail permit, Recreation Passport, orange flag and vehicle safety equipment before visiting. Tow vehicles can also require a parking voucher on busy summer weekends and holidays. Sand faces and traffic change constantly, so drive within your experience and expect hazards beyond a crest. The three original community photos are historical. Arrange passes and any camping directly with the park or relevant operator.
