About this trail

Explore the ocean beach at Fort Stevens near the Peter Iredale shipwreck, with coastal scenery and access toward the Columbia River's South Jetty. This entry is in Warrenton, not South Beach State Park in Newport. The pin marks the beach area near Peter Iredale Road, not a surveyed vehicle entrance. Oregon State Parks permits street-legal vehicles on designated sections only; motorcycles and off-highway vehicles are not allowed. Four-wheel drive is strongly recommended. Driving north of the Peter Iredale access toward the South Jetty is prohibited from noon to midnight, May 1 through September 15. Separate restrictions protect the Columbia River beach, and military training can close sections farther south near Camp Rilea. Check posted access notices and tides, avoid soft sand and surf, and keep clear of wildlife and pedestrians. The original photographs are historical, not a current conditions report.
