Steel Bender 4x4 Trail
Steel Bender Trail, northern approach via Westwater Drive, Near Moab, UT
About this trail
Steel Bender is a demanding 4x4 route through the Mill Creek country between Moab and the La Sal Mountains. Expect rock ledges, rough shelves, sandy stretches and designated creek crossings, with exposed descents that require careful line choice and experienced spotting. Erosion and repairs change the obstacles; the old description understates the consequences of a mistake. Red Rock 4-Wheelers currently recommends 35-inch-or-larger tires and front and rear lockers for its organized runs. Treat that as event guidance, not a guarantee of safe passage or a universal legal equipment rule. The pin is on the northern approach, not a parking reservation or permission to enter neighboring private land. Follow the designated route, respect barriers and avoid creating bypasses or driving outside established creek fords. Check current conditions and any event-specific travel restrictions before setting out. The original vehicle photograph is historical.
