Tobin Ridge High Lakes Trail 617
High Lakes OHV Area, southern end of Route 617 at Route 6M42, Lassen National Forest, near Storrie, CA
About this trail
Tobin Ridge High Lakes Trail, designated Route 617, is a rugged southern link in the High Lakes OHV network. Uneven rock, narrow passages and abrupt changes in grade call for suitable clearance, traction and careful driving. Larger vehicles may find tight sections particularly difficult; do not treat the route as suitable for every stock SUV. The pin marks the mapped southern end of 617 at the Tobin Ridge approach, not the original point farther down Route 6M42. Consult the current motor-vehicle map for the complete approach and stay off hiking-only routes. Snow, downed trees and temporary restrictions can change access. The original vehicle photographs are historical, and the old 2015 tree-obstruction note is not a current trail report. Check forest alerts and local steward updates before travelling.
