Verdi Peak Road climbs through pine forest east of Boca Reservoir, with rocky stretches and Sierra views along the way. The pin marks the mapped entrance to Forest Road 0072, reached from the Hirschdale Road approach on the reservoir's east side. Higher sections are maintained for high-clearance vehicles; choose a vehicle and route suited to changing ground conditions. The Forest Service motor-vehicle map lists seasonal use, generally April 24 through December 31, subject to snow, gates and current orders. Nearby Boca stewardship work closes a separate area west of the reservoir, so do not use this entry as permission to explore every connecting trail.
