The first off road trail near Cheyenne, Wyoming is Pratt Creek Forest Rd. which is actually located in Colorado in the Rocky Mountain National Forest. Pratt Creek Forest Rd. is located 69 miles SW of Cheyenne for a drivetime of one hour and fourteen minutes. This trail is great to run in the fall and early start of the winter season before the snowfall gets too built up. This trail will close in the winter months because it becomes impassable. While you are down this way I would also recommend checking out Seven Mile Creek Trail. Seven Mile is a great mountain trail/road with a few medium sized rocky areas and some shallow water crossings. Trail is gorgeous in Fall and adds a little bit of difficulty in the winter. The next offroad trail near Cheyenne, WY is Kelly Flats, which is once again in Colorado, located 74 miles SW of Cheyenne for a drivetime of one hour and twenty-five minutes. Kelly Flats 4x4 Road definitely meets the definition of rough and rugged, and is one of the more difficult trails in northern Colorado. The flats are unnerving for beginners and even the experts have to bypass on some of the obstacles. Would suggest not attempting unless expert at rockcrawling and that type of terrain and also have a highly modified vehicles for rockcrawling and boulders. At the flats you will reach elevations of a little under 9,000 feet and the trail will take you about 3 hours to complete even though it is only 10.7 miles long. The last offroad trail near Cheyenne, WY, this one actually being in Wyoming :), is Crow Creek Trail located 86 miles SW of Cheyenne for a drivetime of one hour and twenty-four minutes. Crow creek trail is located inside the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest. It is approx. 8-10 miles long and is a fairly easy trail. Better in the winter when there is snow on the ground. It is a great trail for scenery with all the pines and grasslands surrounding you the whole trail! The next offroad trail near West Valley City, UT is Forest Lake Rd. located 45 miles SE of West Valley City for a drivetime of a little over an hour. Forest Lake Rd. is an out and back trail. There is a creek crossing at the very beginning right off the main road. It typically has 8-12 in of water, nothing to worry about. Forest Lake is not much of a lake, but rather a medium pond. The views from the top are gorgeous. You can do this in a RZR easily or a slightly modified Jeep. It is mostly rocky cobblestones with a few boulders to climb over or go around. Total time required to finish the trail is between 1.5 to 3 hours depending on how much you stop to "play"! Start at an elevation of 4,350ft and summit at 9,100ft. Has great scenery and you get to experience different types of terrains throughout the drive from forest, to gravel, to mud and to steep slopes! Not Moab, but still a fun one to tackle!. This area also has a multitude of single track trail opportunities for all levels of mountain bike riders, as well as additional opportunities on dirt roads. This takes you to roads on Boca Ridge, ending up on Verdi Peak Road. These roads are moderately difficult and provide good views of Boca and Stampede Reservoirs and the Sierra crest. There are flat, open grasslands, rolling hills with native blue oak trees, and acres of cobbled mine tailings left after gold dredges combed ancient river beds in search of gold during the late 1800s. Prairie City SVRA takes its name from the gold rush community that was located just northeast of the present-day park. Silver Creek flows over rocks beside the trail with wonderful clear pools in which to relax and play. Unique places to camp along the way. The Trail starts off from the Campground below Lake Alpine. Stay to the right as you approach the lake. The trailhead is about three quarters of a mile from highway 4.
